The “100” project is a kaleidoscopic journey through the soundscape of Transylvania, Banat, Crişana, Maramureş, Bucovina, Moldova, Bessarabia, Oltenia, Muntenia and Dobrogea, the regions that came together at the end of the Great War, in 1918. The music is also based on works by Enescu, Bartok, Rogalski and Satie, great composers inspired by romanian folklore.
Performed on classical and traditional instruments with stunning visuals, the concert provides an irresistible, and metaphorical, blend of the traditional and the contemporary.

The “100” project celebrates a century of musical and artistic creation and interpretation in Romania – from George Enescu and Constantin Brâncuși to traditional music of the historical regions – Banat, Crișana, Maramureș, Ardeal, Bucovina, Moldova, Bessarabia, Oltenia, Muntenia, Dobrogea.

The works of the programme proposes a review of traditional musical genres: geampara, hora, doina, sirba-dance – in fresh musical arrangements, along with contemporary compositions inspired by the works of Romanian composers and artists of the last century. The musical themes are highlighted by the dialogue of the old instruments specific to Romanian space (kobsa, jew-harp, drum) along with modern classical instruments (flute, oboe, violin, guitar, cello). The compositions and musical arrangements belong to Cătălin Ştefănescu-Pătrașcu, doctor in Music, a graduate of the Instrumental and Composing Music, a lecturer at the guitar department of the National University of Music in Bucharest.

The musical programme is complemented with photo / video projections by Cristian Stănoiu (real-time mixed projections) and Florin Ghenade (photo-video artist), a visual performance that continues the project of Florin conducted in the last five years, a project devoted to secular trees from Romania – Old Trees.
